Link Removal for Better SEO Results

Have you got any email / message from Google saying something like ’We have seen unnatural links to your site’ or ‘We have taken targeted action to some unnatural links to your site’. Or if you have noticed that your website is no more in Google search result. As a result, you may want to clean up your backlinks.

Backlinks is something when an outside website puts a link of your website in their website. You may be wondering that you have not done that. But as a part of SEO activities, these have happened through directory submissions or classified submissions or link exchange / link building exercises. These exercises may have been performed in order to get the referral traffic or getting your website ranked high in relation to your target keywords.

But now due to Google algorithm updates, specially with Penguin updates, Google has started finding our such links and validating their quality or spamming behaviour. As per Matt Cutts, the Engineer in charge of Google’s web search quality, ”As Google has gotten better and better at assessing backlinks, there are some people who more or less want to clean up their backlinks. Maybe you’ve been doing paid links, or someone on your behalf has. You might have been doing blog spam, comment spam, forum spam, guest book spam, you-name-it link spam. Maybe you paid somebody to write some low-quality articles and syndicate those all over the place with some very keyword rich anchor text”.

With regular changing Penguin updates, its important to search for wrong backlinks and get them removed in order to get your website back in Google search results.
